Welcome to Stonehill MUN!

Hi! My name is Jayati and I will be the chair for this year’s DISEC committee. I participated in my first MUN when I was in 7th grade, absolutely loved it, and have participated in as many as I could since then. They are a wonderful place to gain new experiences. Apart from going to MUNs, I also love to read, play music, and meet new people. Space arms trade is an extremely important issue right now; the militarization of space is a constant threat that looms over our futures. In a time of such uncertainty, it falls to us, the future leaders of tomorrow to find a solution.

Hi everyone! I am Diya, a grade 11 student at Stonehill International School. I have lived in Bangalore all my life, but I am originally from the state of Kerala. My passions include chemistry, dance, and music. I have been engaged in MUNs since 9th grade and there has been no turning back since! I cannot wait to see the great ideas and resolutions that all you come up with during committee. But, most importantly, don't forget to enjoy yourself!

I have been to numerous MUNs in not only India but around the world. I participated in MUNs in Mexico, and in India winning the awards of best delegate in numerous committees such as DISEC, and ECOSOC. I have also chaired numerous times before, for Stonehill in their MUN Fest, in previous years. Finally, ECOSOC I will be a committee in which all opinions will be respected; I hope that we can work together during SISMUN, and hopefully pass resolutions which help our world.

My name is Shreya Reddy and I am currently a 11th grade student at Stonehill International School. I believe Model United Nations is the perfect platform for young people to discuss and propose solutions for many global issues at hand, by harnessing skills of collaboration and negotiation, skills that will help make a difference in the future. I am delighted to be part of an event that raises awareness about the largest world problems and brings schools in Bangalore together. I have been a delegate in ILMUNC and have chaired for MUNs within the Stonehill community. I am particularly excited see what everyone has to say about the topic being discussed in ECOSOC, seeing as global warming and air pollution are things that need to be dealt with urgently and a lack of action can cause effects that are bigger than individual countries. I look forward to a day of friendly debate and to learn from all the different perspectives that we shall encounter. Good luck delegates!

I’m Karthik Narayanan, currently in D2. I come from Chennai, and I’ve been a delegate at several conferences including CHEMUN, BEIMUN and TASMUN. As your ECOSOC 2 Chair, I look forward to hearing innovative, constructive solutions that tackle the major economic and societal problems of today. I believe that debate is a powerful way to look at the truth in an increasingly post-truth world, and is essential in creating the leaders of tomorrow.

My name is Bhavya Vyas and I will be your vice-chair for the Economic and Social Council at Stonehill MUN 2019. I've been a part of several different conferences over the years including the Ivy League Model UN for three years, Christ University Model UN as well as conferences at neighboring international schools. I truly enjoy the spirit of community that Model UN allows students to build and hope to see the same spirit embodied during our committee sessions.

I see myself as a strong independent person with well grounded morals and well informed opinions. I am a risk-taker, with a healthy curiosity of the world around me, and a deep rooted love for travelling. I have lived in both Kenya and India, spending my summers in the USA which has provided me with a unique outlook on life. My interests include art, theater, history, MUN and World Scholars.
